PRINCESS STEPHANIE

RETURNS TO THE LIMELIGHT

In August of every year, all roads in Monaco lead to Monte Carlo's Salle des Etoiles for the Red Cross Ball, which is a very popular social event. This year's ball, though, was particularly special because it marked Princess Stephanie's return to the limelight.Since she defied her father,Prince Rainier, and started living with her former bodyguard Daniel Ducruet four years ago,the rebel princess hasn't been taking part big functions. Her relationship with Daniel has clearly caused a rift between Stephanie and her father.

But things started turning around for her in November of last year, when Prince Rainier, after undergoing major heart surgery, finally acknowledge how Daniel has tamed Stephanie and made her happy a fullfilled woman. On july 1 this year, they finally got married, and the entire Grimaldi family-Prince Rainier,Princess Caroline and Prince Albert included-were in attendance.

The Red Cross Ball therefore served as a fitting finale to the royal reconciliation.Stephanie, who attended the ball with Daniel, even opened the dancing with her brother Prince Albert.Dressed in radiant sleeveless white gown, she looked every inch a picture of happiness as she sat down to dinner with with the guests. Dinner,Hello! reports, meant golden-grain caviar with brioche toast, medallion of lobster with asparagus tips, ravioli filled with lobster claw meat and crayfish stock, noisette of lamb with pink berries, feuillete of artichokes with duck liver garden vegetables, compote of figs with cinnamon, peaches and ice cream.

After dinner, the princess settled back to watch American soprano Barbara Hendricks sing not her signature repertoire of Monteverdi,Mozart and Verdi but her own version of Duke Ellington songs.

Then the tombola came next.Presented by Mr.007 Roger Moore and supermodel Naomi Campbell, who was in back and white Valentino body-hugger ,the tombola had breathtaking prizes which included a set of jewelry in gold and brilliant diamonds donated by Van Cleef and Arpels.Other prizes were a gold and diamond necklace by the sculptor Arman and luxury cruise by Sun Line.

The glittering evening ended with a beutiful firework display across Monte carlo's night sky.It was as if even the heavens were celebrating the return of a lost sheep.
